Lion’s Share Industries has finally launched! Go buy some shirts!
I designed one entitled Wind-Up Bird and also did a not-very-good-job of being a model. Maré Odomo did a shirt called Who Cooks for You and modeled, too. Handsome devil.

This clock is based on an old idea of mine that I was reminded of after reading Seneca’s "On the Shortness of Life". Having only a second hand, its purpose isn’t to tell a specific time, but to describe the passing of time and remind the viewer not to waste those ticking seconds.
I’d like to make a watch of a similar design, so if anyone sees a likely candidate for modification, let me know.
This clock was created for an instructor of mine, Raymond Maxwell, in Seattle, Washington on 2010-06-06.
The interactive installation I created for my final BFA thesis project, Heartache as a Masterpiece, will be on display at the Cornish College of the Arts BFA Show from May 14th to 29th. The opening reception is May 14th at 5pm.
The project initially will be on view exclusively in the Cornish Gallery, but one week later will launch online here: Heartache as a Masterpiece.
This is my ridiculous business card based on Wile E. Coyote’s. I wanted to make them with no contact information so they just read “Scott J. Garner, Genius”, but I chickened out and put it on the back.

This is a shirt design I did for Lion’s Share Industries first run of vegan shirts built around the theme of “flight”. You can also view the full design if you like. Apparently I’ll be modeling it soon. Fancy.

These are my comics from Hourly Comic Day 2010. They’re a lot like last year’s, only with less excitement and adventure. You can view them at Flickr or the HCD Forums.

Here’s a poster I did for Boom! Theater Company’s production of Boxplay.

When running Adobe After Effects under OSX, it is possible to attempt to force a crash recovery if the application become unresponsive. I’ve written a script to make the process a little more painless.
set procName to "Contents/MacOS/After Effects"
set grepCommand to "ps -ef | grep -i '" & procName & "' | grep -v grep | awk {'print $2'} | head -1"
set curPID to do shell script grepCommand
if curPID is not "" then
set killCommand to "kill -SEGV " & curPID
set result to do shell script killCommand
end if
You can export the above AppleScript as an application to keep in your Dock, or download a prebuilt version below:
AE Suicide was written based on a technique outlined here:
Adobe After Effects CS4: Optimize the Pipeline
Thanks to Eric Bauer for first turning me on to this trick and Paulo Dias for help with testing and designing the icon.
