A final final motion project, this time for Typography II. It’s a stop motion animation of a short passage from A Shropshire Lad. I shot the whole thing on an overhead projector and did all of the effects “in camera”—including the fancy fade in/out that I pulled off by building a simple dimmer for the overhead.

Yet another final animation project, this time for Sequential Communications. City Arts magazine commissioned Cornish motion design students to do a series of 20 second animations to screen before the films in the Seattle Independent Film Festival. I acted as director and animator on this short with another student, Query Johnson, acting as my crew and handling character design tasks.

A large still from the ending sequence of my downtime animation is now available, though not due to any time of demand–popular or otherwise.

This was my final project for Digital Motion Effects for which we were asked to create a credit sequence for a fictional television show or film. My concept was to take the idea of a ticking clock and spread it through various aspects of an urban environment.

This is an animated production company trailer I did for my Digital Motion Effects class. The assignment was pretty wide open, so I took it as an opportunity to experiment with motion tracking and 2D animation.

This is a motion reel I cut over Spring Break for a portfolio review happening a few days after the holiday. It consists of clips from a few larger-scale works along with lots of random bits and bobs from practice pieces.

This “photo-roman” was cut for my Sequential Communications class and loosely follows the Elliott Smith song “New Monkey”. Thanks to Steven Ackley for playing the junky and the uncredited Colin Bryant for playing the dealer’s feet.

You might thing that as a motion design student I wouldn’t spend time writing, designing and binding books about graphic designers, but you’d be wrong…

Ryan needed a poster for his upcoming senior recital. How could I say know?

For my final project in Digital Motion Editing, I chose to use a short story I wrote around ten years ago in a kind of stylistic homage to Tim and Eric. Many thanks to Sage Price and Samie Detzer for helping me out.
